Junior Gators
What is a Junior Gator?
A Junior Gator is a beginner swimmer who isn't quite ready for swim meets yet, but still wants to be part of the fun! Instead of full team practices, Junior Gators participate in a group swim instruction clinic designed to build confidence and swim fundamentals.
How do I know if I should do Junior Gators or Swim Team?
Our coaches will offer an "Evaluation Week" before the season starts. At the end of the week you will receive an email with feedback from the coaches with a recommendation for either Junior Gators or Swim Team.
When is Junior Gator practice?
Junior Gator practices run every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM. They will officially start as soon as the team switches over to the morning practice schedule! You can always find the full calendar posted right on our website under the Practice Information tab.
Can a Junior Gator participate in meets?
Yes, they absolutely can! While the program is designed for beginners who aren't quite ready for full competitive meets yet, Junior Gators are highly encouraged to give a meet a try whenever they feel up to it. It’s a great, low-pressure way for them to experience the fun of an Old Town Club meet!
Is there an age limit for Junior Gators?
No, there is no official age limit. The program is open to any new beginner swimmer who isn't ready for standard swim meets yet. That being said, most of our Junior Gators tend to be 6 years old and under.
What if a swimmer is not ready for Junior Gators yet?
Our coaches also offer private or semi-private swim lessons which is great for new swimmers. If you are interested in Private Lessons, click on the Coaches tab for contact information and reach out to them directly.
